Popis: Summary Background Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a common compressive neuropathy of the foot, but is a significantly misunderstood clinical entity. Material and Methods We performed a narrative review of the tarsal tunnel trough the published literature. Results The accurate diagnosis is the most important part for success in the treatment, made by clinical and physical examination. Complementary test, such MRI or electromyography, help us to accurate the diagnosis and surgical planning. Conclusion Initial treatment should be non-operative, although is of limited value in some cases, where surgery should be considered from the start. Open surgery should be recommended for releasing all the potential nerve entrapment sites, although new techniques appears to offer hopeful results. Level of clinical evidence IV.
