Popis: | on the printed circular sent to J. Briquet, director of the Conservatoire, from the Boissier herbarium at Geneva University. But the correspondence between the curator of the Boissier herbarium, G. Beauverd, and Amann and Meylan on the one hand, and the printers, Imprimeries Reunies, Lausanne, formerly Bridel & Cie., on the other hand, shows that the impression took place from 1912 to 1917. On 9.5.1912 the first part was finished. Two additional copies were bound for Barbey's personal library in Valleyres (Canton de Vaud). From part 2, p. [1]-7 came out in 1912 already whilst p. [9]-248 appeared before 16.10.1914. Then the composing had to be interrupted because of Barbey's death and because of financial problems rising from the war. The Boissier herbarium was left by will by Barbey's family to the Geneva University. In 1915 the setting was taken up again. The printing was finished by 6 January 1916 leaving only the zincography of the plates to be done in 1917 together with the additions and the indices of both parts. Ten new specific names appear in the first part, and the 16 new species in the second part were printed before December 1915. But although the printed sheets were present in the library of the Boissier herbarium, later transferred to the university of Geneva, these earlier publication dates cannot be considered as effectively published since the sheets were only distributed to the authors. For nomenclatural purposes, therefore, the effective date of publication, 31 December 1918, does not cause any change with respect to the 1919 citation in Wijk et al. (19591969). |
