Popis: Introduction: Endometriosis is characterized as a chronic, benign, estrogen-dependent, multifactorial disease that affects mainly women of reproductive age. It can be identified by the presence of tissue that resembles a gland or an endometrial stroma outside the uterus, with predominance, but not exclusivity, in the female pelvic region. Objective: This study aims to perform a narrative review of the literature about the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis. Methodology: With bibliographic survey conducted during the month of November 2022, based on scientific articles published in the databases: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), between the years 2017 and 2022. Results and Discussion: Laparoscopy is considered the gold standard for the diagnosis of endometriosis by enabling direct inspection of large surface areas of intra-abdominal organs, in addition to performing directed biopsies. The treatment of endometriosis can be divided into: clinical or surgical treatment of pelvic pain, in addition to treatment against infertility caused by this pathology. Final Considerations: Evidenced endometriosis as a common pathology among women, especially in patients who present chronic pelvic pain and infertility. However, it was possible to note the scarcity of studies on endometriosis, especially when it comes to its diagnosis and treatment.
