A characterization of irreducible elements in lattices

Popis: The prime ideals and irreducible ideals of rings have been characterized by Heinzer et al. in (J Pure Appl Algebra 166:267–275, 2002) and by Lu and Qin in (Southeast Asian Bull Math 32:299–303, 2008) and later extended to algebraic lattices by Swamy and Venkateswarlu in (Int J Algebra Comput 8(8):969–975, 2010). In this paper, we unify, generalize and strengthen the above works by obtaining better characterizations of irreducible and strongly irreducible elements in general algebraic lattices.
