Popis: | Nicotinic transmission in neurons is likely to differ substantially from that at the neuromuscular synapse (see below; ROLE and BERG 1996; WALMSLEY et al. 1998; ZOLI and AGNATI 1996), and neurons and muscle cells themselves differ in some essential features (e.g., the presence of junctional and non-junctional nuclei in myofibers). However, given the similarities among muscle and neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) subunits, a description of the developmental changes of nAChRs and their regulation at the neuromuscular junction constitute a useful reference for neuronal nAChR development. |
