Popis: While environmental degradation continues to be a topic of considerable interest and research, litter continues to plague American communities. A program that integrates existing community resources into a cost-efficient system that effectively controls community litter would appear to be a vitally important component of any comprehensive litter control technology. The present program was implemented through one of the most common businesses in American communities, McDonald's, and was designed for the most important population of citizens for the future enhancement of our environment, youth. Special adhesive stickers were randomly placed on existing litter throughout a community and youth were rewarded with special prizes by McDonald's for participating in the program and finding the "special" litter pieces. When the program was implemented, litter was reduced 32% across the city. Thus, through the utilization of existing community resources, a pervasive environmental and community concern was substantially impacted.
