This paper presents an overview of mobility management and QoS Control in next generation networks. The NGN architecture is expected to provide generalized mobility for users while keeping the desired quality of service and providing required resources for different kinds of services. The approach taken is, initially, to overview the basic concepts and goals of mobility and QoS in the context of NGN. Following this, the overall architecture of NGN is presented and then the migration path toward the next generation mobile networks and the mobility management function in NGN is discussed. Also we take a closer look to QoS control and resource management in NGN and the related activities in standardization bodies. Finally the resource management architecture proposed by ITU and the mobility considerations in this architecture are presented. |
