Popis: | Laser excitation of the ν 3 ( v =1) level of 13 CO 2 in solid argon is found to induce strong ( ν 1 + ν 2 , 3 ν 2 )→( ν 1 , 2 ν 2 ) and ( ν 1 , 2 ν 2 → ν 2 ) emissions in the 16 μm spectral region. Their sharp threshold in function of the laser excitation density is interpreted as the signature of vibrational stimulated emission (VSE). Upon site-selective excitation, the VSE exhibits marked differences in threshold, temporal behaviour and relative intensities. Its time dependence gives some insight into the vibrational dynamics of matrix-isolated CO 2 . In particular, it suggests for the upper levels of VSE transitions a rather long vibrational lifetime in the μs range. |
