Popis: Largely COPD prognosis depends on the frequency of exacerbations of the disease and the presence of comorbid conditions. The aim of the study was to evaluate the condition of the upper airways (UAW) of COPD patients with subsequent analysis of the frequency of exacerbations of COPD accordingly with changing therapy of comorbidity diseases. The study conducted on 99 patients with COPD, 50 of whom (group 1) in set exacerbation and 49 out-patients (group 2) with stable COPD. The control group included matched with age and sex 50 never smoked healthy volunteers. Re-examination was carried out after 6 months in 72 patients with COPD in stable course of the disease. It was established that the 1st and 2nd groups of patients differed in the severity of symptoms of the disease, but had the same high risk of exacerbations of COPD> 2 during the year. During the period of exacerbation and stable course of COPD, 50% and 42.9% of patients, respectively, actively complained about the state of the UAW. The most frequent were laryngeal diseases, which were found in 84% and 73.5% of patients, respectively, with exacerbation and a stable course of COPD.
