Synthesis of Y-Doped n-Type SrTiO3 Thermoelectric Oxides by Polymerized Complex Process

Popis: | Synthesis of the Y-doped n-type SrTiO3 thermoelectric oxides was tried by the polymerized complex (PC) process and the subsequent hot pressing. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the Sr 1-x Y x TiO 3 powder precursors (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1) synthesized by the PC process showed that the perovskite SrTiO 3 structure without any second phases was obtained, indicating that the Y-doped SrTiO 3 powder can be fabricated by the PC process, which is a lower temperature process as compared to the conventional solid state reaction (SSR) process. It was found that the perovskite SrTiO 3 structure mostly remained after the sintering by hot pressing. The Sr 0.9 Y 0.1 TiO 3 sample showed the Seebeck coefficient and the electrical resistivity lower than those of the non-doped SrTiO 3 , supporting an increase in carrier concentration due to Y doping. The power factor of the Sr 0.9 Y 0.1 TiO 3 sintered compact was almost the same as that of the Sr 0.9 Y 0.1 TiO 3 prepared by the conventional SSR method. |
