Popis: Halilbasic raises the question of how national theatres in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as cultural institutions of former Yugoslavia but now theatres of a new nation-state, reacted to language politics during the Bosnian war. He starts by giving an introduction on language denomination in the former Yugoslavia. Subsequently, he looks at the role of national theatres in the SFRY, before going on to discuss two such institutions during the Bosnian war: after looking at the national theatre of Banja Luka and its language policies, he focuses on the ethnic division of the city of Mostar and shows how theatre was ethnically divided there as well, with a new Croatian National Theatre being founded in the Croat part of the city.
