The electronic spectra of benzyl

Popis: Studies of spectra of the photolysis products of toluene and related molecules in low temperature rigid glasses have confirmed the assignment of the 3053 A system to benzyl. A new absorption system has been observed, with maximum at 4527 A. The two absorption systems are in excellent agreement with recent molecular orbital calculations and with emission spectra previously assigned to this radical.
