This study aims to address the issue of the role of the foreign workers in the promotion of work in the strategic construction projects in Sudan (a case study Dam Complex of Upper Atbara Project). The importance of this study lies in addressing one of the most important topics that concern the policy makers and the individuals in charge for the construction projects in Sudan. It also identifies their advantages and disadvantages, and address and deal with the shortcomings. The research dealt with evaluating the role of foreign workers in improving work and finding solutions to develop and qualify local labor in an effort to achieve this the data was collected by designing a questionnaires were distributed to the employees in the Dam Complex of Upper Atbara Project, and then unload the data collected through the questionnaires using the program Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results of the analysis showed that foreign workers played a role in the development of work in construction projects by 82%, and the reason that hinders the development of the skills of the Sudanese workers was the lack of training by 74%. The respondents also saw that there is a deficiency in the laws that control the work between foreign companies and local workers by 50%.Where 38% of the respondents did not know about the Sudanese Labor Law. Based on these results, the proposed solutions were presented in order to improve the performance of the construction industry in Sudan. |
