Popis:	Mesenteric panniculitis is a rare occurrence. Its clinical findings correspond to those of an ovarian carcinoma with a poor general condition, ascites and elevation of tumor marker CA 12-5. Imaging diagnostics do not admit a definitive diagnosis. Diagnosis can only be carried out by histopathologic examination of the operative specimen. The diagnosis is not possible based on the cytological criteria of ascites. An extended operation of these patients is contra-indicated due to the high risk from the collagenosis. The postoperative therapy with corticosteroids is most effective with rapid normalization of the clinical findings.
