Popis: A series of substituted cyclohexanones was screened for anticonvulsant, skeletal muscle relaxing and toxic properties in mice, and for those compounds that were selected for further study, ED 50 , PD 50 , and LD 50 values were determined. Although the series in general, possesses low water solubility, individual members are rapidly absorbed following intraperitoneal injection of suspensions of the compounds. 2-( o -Methylphenyl)cyclohexanone was one of the most active compounds in the series, both as an anticonvulsant and as a muscle relaxant. Because its action resembled that of mephenesin, a comparison of the two compounds was made. The effect of the ortho-isomer on strychnine convulsions was also studied.
