Popis: While there are a large variety of hybrid vehicles, most fall into one of two types, series or parallel, the terms being derived from the mechanical arrangement of the power train. Each system has relative advantages and disadvantages for the vehicle designer, the relative importance of which depends on the purpose of the vehicle. In many cases, the other consumable fuel energy source is a reciprocating heat engine, but other sources such as fuel cells and gas turbines are also being considered. Both types of hybrid vehicle are briefly described. The Coventry Test Cycle, in which a hybrid vehicle was tested for energy recovery by regenerative braking, is discussed. The construction and specification of motor and controller from the vehicle manufacturer's point of view is discussed.
