In the past, cohesive soil samples are settled naturally in soil sample tank, which often takes a long time. In order to solve this problem, a rapid sedimentation device for cohesive soil is invented. Rapid sedimentation consolidation test and natural settlement test were carried out on cohesive soil, and the changes of water content and settlement height with time were analyzed. The results show that the rapid sedimentation device invented in this paper can rapidly reduce the water content of cohesive soil in a short time, and under the condition of reducing the same water content, the reduction rate of water content of cohesive soil sample in rapid sedimentation test is about 13–29 times that of natural settlement test, and under the condition of reducing the same height (1cm) of cohesive soil sample, the natural settlement test takes 48 times as long as the rapid sedimentation test. The above results show that the device solves the problem of slow natural settlement of cohesive soil, which can quickly reduce the water content of cohesive soil, lay a foundation for the starting scour test of cohesive soil. |
