Popis: It is formed in relatively large amounts in nuclear fission. The parent Sr90 has a half-life of about 20 years, the yttrium daughter a half -life of 61 hr. Upon ingestion, the strontium is concentrated in the bone and is eliminated slowly. The maximum permissible concentration (MPC) in water for continuous ingestion (70 years) of Sr90-Y90 is 8 X 10"7 microcuries (>c) per milliliter (2).
