Popis: | In the automobile industry, the use of the polycarbonate (PC) window pane is well developed. Unfortunately, the demand for greater mechanical performance will result in serious noise problems because of its high rate of stiffness to low weight. There is a need to design a PC window pane with a superior passive acoustical insulating property for automobile consumer comfort. This paper investigates the noise transmission characteristics of an elastically supported sandwich PC pane into a rectangular cavity using a modal analysis combination with compact matrix formulation. This approach made it easier to investigate the coupled structural-cavity systems. The numerical results reveal that an improvement in noise reduction can be realized by the appropriate selection of structural parameters such as the damping of core, density of viscoelastic core material and the thickness of the face plate. |
