Popis: Sudden onset of necrotizing pancolitis with septic shock in a 29-year-old man on neuroleptic treatment, gives the opportunity to discuss the contingent role of these compounds in the genesis of this pathology. After reporting a case, the authors put the emphasis on the diagnosis and the course of action in reponse to the situation. They deal with the pathogenic cause and the effect of high proportioning of neuroleptics on necrotizing colitis, in the light of references to the literature. The intestinal ileus under neuroleptics may entail the parietal dilatation which is responsible for mesenteric ischemia. The necrosis occurs by a double mechanism, microbial and ischemic. The responsibility of psychotherapeutic substances cannot be neglected.
