Q: Where does autism come from? A: In many cases, autism first makes itself apparent from what I call the “Autism Bomb.” What happens? I was hit with the Autism Bomb at eighteen months. A child is developing typically for about 18 to 24 months, and then something happens. There is loss of speech and tantrums. It’s the environmental withdrawal. You see self-stimulatory activities such as children repeatedly spinning themselves or objects, and you see obsession on special interests; wonderful behaviors you’ve all grown to know and love. |
