Popis: | The sizing of the power to be installed in a vessel depends on the desired Effective Power (\(P_E\)) and how efficient the energy conversion process is carried out in each of its components. Screw type are the most widely used propellers and their selection determines to a greater extent the overall efficiency of the unit. An interactive tool that accelerates the selection of the most efficient propeller for two different series, the Gawn and the B-Wageningen, is presented and is used for a design case of study where the required \(P_E\) of an electrically-powered vessel is known. The comparative analysis provided by the tool allowed to determine a difference in performance parameters of almost 10% between different propellers series, to estimate the installed power values, and to characterize the geometrical parameters for a commercial selection approach. |
