Popis: | A computational model of wool carpet wear is developed, with detailed mathematical explanations in each step, to compare with analytical models, conduct sensitivity tests and visualise individual fibre lengths in the wear process. The computational model gives good agreement with experimental observations, slightly better than the analytical models. The computational simulations show that 1000 fibres may be enough to represent an infinite number of fibres and a fibre is almost worn out after 10 breaks, which answers two general queries in computational modelling. The initial and current lengths of 100 fibres are plotted to illustrate individual fibre behaviour, which cannot be achieved using the analytical method. |
