Popis: | A new electronic odour-testing system was tested on wood chips with three glue types, containing various portions for each glue type, and on control specimens (chips without glue) with the aim to study the suitability of this instrument for identification and calibration purposes. The device, an electronic nose, makes use of semiconducting properties of metal oxides. Sensors covered with such substances are sensitive to gas-phase odourant molecules streaming past them. By means of factorial discriminant analyses, the data belonging to the different glue types could be clearly separated. Beyond this, portions of glue in the chip/glue mix for each adhesive type could be clearly recognised. |
