In order to respond to rapidly changing manufacturing environment and market, supply chain must be flexible, adaptable and reconfigurable. The potentials of changes in organization structure caused by changes in businesses must be taken into consideration during structural modeling of the supply chain. These can be accomplished with a fractal-based architecture. A structure model with the properties of self-similarity, self-organization, self-optimization, goal-orientation, dynamics and vitality is proposed in this paper. Fractal-based nature of the supply chain can be analyzed and optimized with the model, which adapts quickly to the dynamical change of the market. |
