| Popis: | Many assistant practitioners and healthcare assistants are now finding that they are working within extended roles, completing clinical assessment and treatment skills which previously remained the domain of a registered member of staff. Many of these roles will rely on protocols underpinning the clinical role which provide a framework that should be followed when completing a task. This article aims to outline what a protocol is and how they are developed. Consideration will also be given to the use of protocols in the development of new skills within clinical practice. |
