Popis: | A new He-Ne laser (0.63 μm) with a wide region of single-mode oscillation (2 GHz) obtained by selection of longitudinal modes with the use of an absorption cell at the mode nodal point has been developed. By measurement of natural fluctuations of the radiation frequency in such a laser, we found that the natural component of the linewidth is 0.001 Hz for a 2.7-fold exceeding of the laser threshold and output power 1 mW. Using this level of monochromaticity, we measured ultrasmall oscillatory displacements of several tens of nanoangstroms (8·10−18 m) corresponding to a relative change in resonator length by about 6·10−18. |
