Popis: Behaviour of welded thin – walled steel box stub struts fixed at the ends are studied. Failure of a member in compression is on account of buckling of the member which is dependent on the slenderness ratio. A series of fifteen box struts of square and rectangular cross-section were tested to failure. The parameters that are varied include struts slenderness ratio (λ = 10, 15 & 20) and cross sectional shape (Square and Rectangular). All the specimens were subjected to axial compression. The effects of these parameters on the ultimate strength of box sections are studied. The experimental results are compared with analytical results obtained using Finite Element Software ANSYS.Behaviour of welded thin – walled steel box stub struts fixed at the ends are studied.
