New magnetic semiconductors with spinel structure containing Cu, Cr, Sb, Zn, Mn and S

Popis: | New compounds with spinel structure CuCr1.5+xSb0.5-xS4 (1), Cu1-yMeyCr1.5+0.5ySb0.5-0.5yS4 (Me = Zn, Co) (2), Co1.2Cr1.7Sb0.1S4 (3) and Mn1.2Cr1.7Sb0.1S4 (4) were obtained and studied in detail. All the investigated compounds are non-degenerate semiconductors. The compounds No. 1 (0 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.1) and No. 2 were found to have the magnetic properties characteristic for antiferromagnets. Compounds No. 3, 4 and No. 1 (0.2 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.3) have a spontaneous magnetization, with the Curie point of the compound No. 1 with x = 0.3, i.e. Tc = 334 K, being higher than room temperature. The re-entrant spin glass transition is observed in the compound No. 1 with x = 0.2. |
