The sorption of propylene on zeolites 4A, 5A and 13X in a monolayer region has been investigated by the NMR method. It has been found that on all zeolites physisorption exists at two different centres. The first centres are cations which with propylene form a π-complex on the surface. The capacity, in cation equivalents, is identical for the formation of a π-complex for all three zeolites. The second centres are dipoles of the aluminosilicate framework of zeolite. Besides physisorption on all the zeolites, chemisorption exists on zeolite 4A with the formation of polypropylene. The mechanism of sorption on these zeolites is suggested. |
