Popis: | A new acidic monosaccharide, isolated from the O-specific lipopolysaccharide of Sh. dysenteriae type 3, has been identified as 4-O-[(R)-1-carboxyethyl)]- d -glucose (1). The synthesis of 1 involved alkylation of methyl 2,3,6-tri-O-benzyl-α(β)- d -glucopyranoside with (S)-2-chloropropionic acid, followed by hydrogenolysis and acid hydrolysis. Alkylation with (R)-2-chloropropionic acid led to the diastereoisomer of 1, 4-O-[(S)-1-carboxyethyl]- d -glucose (8). |
