Popis:	This article describes the use of batteries as energy accumulators when creating powerful modulators of superlong pulses for nuclear reactors. The characteristics of lead-acid batteries in widespread use at present and also those of newly developed batteries are given. Sodium batteries are shown to have the best characteristics, but problems have to be overcome before they will be in widespread use. The possibility of using standard lead-acid batteries type 6ST-140R tested under pulsed discharge conditions is described.
