Popis: The ever-growing demand and consumption of plastic has created irrevocable havoc on earth. The exponential increase in the production of plastic is expected to create 2,134 million tons of waste by 2050, which surpasses the fish mass in the oceans. With no proper reuse or recycling policies and gruesome exploitation of this persistent pollutant, plastic has started accumulating and overflowing beyond control. The prevalence and the undefined harm from micro and nano plastic pollution calls for a vigilant screening and periodic upgradation of analytical methodology for efficient and standard reporting. This chapter aims to provide a summary of currently available extraction protocols and instrumental methodologies for microplastics analysis in various environmental samples to fully understand the implications it possesses.
