Popis: Diversity in the forms of appropriation of nature and its resources, proceeds due to inadequate and aggressive modes of production, which has fostered the massive destruction of nature. In view of this, man designates nature as an object at his service and ends up making profound changes in it, making it enigmatic. By their own nature and socio-cultural formation, societies have satisfactory competence to alter the environment qualitatively different from that used by other living beings. Therefore, this chapter aims to discuss the intrinsic relationship between agroecology as a science and family farming as an agricultural practice, in order to promote productive sustainability. This is a qualitative research, with exploratory and bibliographical character, where the dialectical method was used to analyze the geographical and socio-environmental context. The findings indicate that the socio-environmental deterioration is determining the imperative need to modify the principles of economic rationality, its unequal and predatory style, to architect an adequate productive rationality to generate an equitable development, sustainable and lasting.
