Popis:	By dehydration and subsequent saponification of the reaction product obtained from β-ionone and γ-bromocrotonic ester we prepared β-ionylidene crotonic acid III, which substance was transformed into the “C18 ketone” IV by means of lithium methyl. From this ketone we prepared “vitamin A acid” VII, by means of a Reformatski reaction with methylbromoacetate. This substance proved to have a strong vitamin A activity.
