In 1995, Total started its oil and gas activities in Myanmar as the operator of Yadana consortium, which comprises Total Exploration & Production Myanmar (TEPM), Thai National Petroleum Exploration & Production Company (PTTEP), UNOCAL, and the national energy corporation Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE). Among the facilities it has developed, a 65km long onshore gas pipeline in remote southern Myanmar (Tanintharyi Division) is the crucial asset. Together with the company’s operations, a CSR program called Yadana Socio Economic Development program is implemented under direct management of the company’s employees and contractors. This community development program covers 33 villages located within a 10km strip of "corridor" along the gas pipeline, from sea shore to Thai border. "Through our operations, we contribute to the social and economic development in countries where we operate, particularly local communities" – code of conduct |
