Application of Genetic Algorithm in PD Source Location in Transformer Oil

Popis: Acoustical emission monitoring of partial discharges (PD) in transformer oil can be used to locate the fault point, and all-acoustic system or acoustic system with an electrical PD trigger have been proposed in IEEE Std C57.127-2018. In order to make better use of the acousto-electric joint PD source location method, this article briefly describes the electro-acoustic source location principle and algorithm for PD in-oil of the transformer, and simulates the monitoring system composed of a UHF sensor as the electrical trigger source and several piezoelectric sensors of AE acoustic detection. The genetic algorithm (GA) was adopted to solve the sphere functions based on the time difference between the UHF signal and AE signals measured from the PD source, while value range of the equivalent transmission velocity (ETV) is assumed to be [1300], [1500] m/s. The results show that the above acousto-electric joint PD source location method can be used in engineering applications of PD source location in transformer oil with a UHF sensor and three AE sensors.
