Molar extinction coefficients and mean free paths were measured for some organic compounds as a function of effective atomic number in a narrow beam geometry using NaI (Tl) scintillation detectors for low and medium energy gamma-ray photons. The values of molar extinction coefficient have been found to change with energy as well as with measured values of effective atomic number. Dosimetric characteristics of these parameters in different solutions have also been explored in this context. Our experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical results.Molar extinction coefficients and mean free paths were measured for some organic compounds as a function of effective atomic number in a narrow beam geometry using NaI (Tl) scintillation detectors for low and medium energy gamma-ray photons.
