Popis: | The performance of a commercially available cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liner as it spans circular voids in its host pipe is examined using finite element analyses. A three dimensional model is presented and compared to an existing axisymmetric model. The effect of friction and the orthotropic nature of the liner’s material are also investigated. Lastly, the internal pressure at failure is estimated for a number of void sizes through simulated burst tests using a conditional equation from ASTM F1216-16 along with the interactive and maximum stress failure criteria from ASTM F2207-06. It is recommended that a multi-axial strength criterion be used for smaller void sizes that conform with the conditional equation, while the uniaxial strength criterion be used for larger void sizes that do not satisfy the conditional equation. |
