A magnetic spectrometer for low energy pion identification in pion production experiments

Popis: A magnetic spectrometer is described, which is suitable for low energy pion identification ( T π = (5–50) MeV). The special features of the spectrometer are a very short distance between target and detector together with reasonable solid angle. The pion detector system-based on the measurement of the specific energy loss of particles inside scintillators - and the data acquisition network is described. The properties of the spectrometer are experimentally tested.
