Popis: We have used our immersed-refrigerant cooling method1,2, previously used only to cool 3He–4He solutions3,4, to cool a sample of moderately pure 3He. In the preliminary experiment reported here we have achieved an extremely low helium temperature, certainly below 120 µK, at which temperature the superfluid B phase is so far below its transition temperature that our vibrating wire viscometer is essentially unable to detect the presence of any normal fluid component. In this regime we hope to be able to investigate any interaction between the wire and the stiffness of the superfluid texture.
