Pleiade is a professional document manipulation system designed to manipulate interactively structured documents including texts, graphics, formulaes, tables and any kind of structured objects defined by the user. It is an integrated editor formattor providing a nearly exact representation of the document on the screen. It is based on a structured description of the document. User defined logical types are used to specify the formatting rules. Though it uses a declarative approach, it has no written language neither for the commands nor the specifications. An iconic language and an object oriented approach are used to operate directly through the visual representation of the entities on the screen. |
