Spectral study of ability of ferrocenylphosphines and ferrocenylphosphine oxides to form hydrogen bonds

Popis: 1. Spectral and thermodynamic characteristics of H-complexes of phenol with phenyl- and ferrocenylphosphines and the corresponding phosphine oxides were determined. 2. The strength of the H-bonds increases upon replacement of the phenyl groups by ferrocenyl groups in the series: Ph3 < FcPh2 < Fc2Ph < Fc3. 3. The proton-acceptor ability of the ferrocenyl-substituted phosphines and phosphine oxides was found to be greater than in the case of the corresponding trialkyl-substituted derivatives. 4. The anomalously high donor properties of the Fc substituents are tentatively explained as hyperconjugation of the π-orbitals of rings with σ-bonds of phosphorus atom and the phosphoryl group.
