New values defining 'low' and 'deficient' hemoglobin levels for white children and adults

Popis:	New statistically defined values for “deficient” and “low” hemoglobin levels have been calculated from a total of 12,320 white participants in the National Health and Nutrition Examination of the United States (NHANES I). These values, corresponding to the 5th and 15th percentiles respectively, have been separately calculated both with and without low transferrin saturation levels (≤16 percent). The ability to quantify the proportion of individuals deemed at risk in nutrition surveys is afforded in these new tabulations.
