Popis: The proton pickup reaction ($t, \ensuremath{\alpha}$) has been used to investigate states in $^{207}\mathrm{Tl}$ and $^{206}\mathrm{Tl}$. The angular distributions resulting from populating five states in $^{207}\mathrm{Tl}$ which are predominantly single-hole in character have been analyzed to obtain spectroscopic factors. In the $^{207}\mathrm{Pb}(t, \ensuremath{\alpha})^{206}\mathrm{Tl}$ spectrum, doublets corresponding to the interaction of proton holes in the four lowest-lying orbits with a $3{p}_{\frac{1}{2}}$ neutron hole are the strongest states observed. The $2{d}_{j}$ proton-hole strength is found in several levels of $^{206}\mathrm{Tl}$. The positions and intensities of the observed levels are in quantitative agreement with the nuclear-structure calculations of Kuo.
