While social welfare organizations, that provide services in areas such as child abuse and neglect, aging, substance abuse, corrections, health care, income maintenance, family counseling, and crisis intervention, have increasingly given credence to the idea that in order to survive, they must draw on business concepts and methods of management, planning, personnel administration, budgeting, etc., they have not recognized the area of marketing as important to their management functions. However, in the face of dwindling funds, increased competition and calls for accountability, the time is ripe for the inclusion of marketing methods in social welfare administration. |
