Popis: Measurements of the peak sound-pressure levels from small explosive charges (1·08 and 4·32 kg) are reported and compared with levels predicted by using a model based upon ray-tracing in a stratified atmosphere. From comparisons of the measured and predicted levels, estimates are obtained for the shielding provided by natural barriers (hills). These estimates are compared with the shielding predicted by the method of Maekawa and a pulse-diffraction theory proposed by Medwin.
