Experimental evidence of third harmonic variations at 77 K and at 300 K in AuPbTeAu and AuPbxSn1−xTeAu structures

Popis: By using a Wheatstone bridge with very low non-linearity we observed the third harmonic index in AuPb x Sn 1− x TeAu structures with x = 0.8, x = 1. A mathematical expression both the current was derived from a simple model which takes into account both the polycrystalline nature of the film and the rectifying metal-semiconductor-metal contacts. Experimental data were obtained and compared with these theoretical results. It was observed that, after annealing, the third harmonic amplitude had decreased from its value immediately after film preparation. Measurements carried out a month later showed a further reduction of the third harmonic amplitude, both at 300 K and at 77 K. One point of interest is that gold contacts under the films always showed less non-linearity than gold contacts on top of the films.
