Popis: | Lobectomy is the gold standard for the resection of early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, this procedure is not applicable to some elderly patients or patients with limited pulmonary reserve. Sublobar lung resections, including anatomical segmentectomy and wedge resection, have been advocated for these patients. More recently, with the earlier diagnosis of lung cancer in its “nodule” stage, anatomic segmentectomy has been advocated for patients with normal pulmonary function. The overall 5-year survival and lung cancer-specific 5-year survival following anatomical segmentectomy have been shown to be equivalent to lobectomy. |
