Popis: The existence of the image cannot be reduced to its function as an iconic designation: representation through images is never innocuous, or “faithful”. Like every medium—and more than any other—the image is a vector of intentions, power and conflict, and takes an active part in the expectations it conveys. While this phenomenon was only fully theorized in visual studies, at the end of the last century, it has always influenced attitudes towards images.
